“Amanda has the rare ability to help individuals make positive life / work changes in a sensitive but focussed way. She cleverly combines the right mix of questioning, telling, & empathy to achieve a result which is often creative, yet sustainable. More than anything, Amanda is able to quickly pinpoint the TRUE issues that require resolving, whilst melting away the ‘red herrings’ that so often cloud someone’s mind & prevent them from moving forward.”

Coaching People through Redundancy & Back to Work

I offer a bespoke coaching programme to experienced business men and women whose jobs have been made redundant.

I can help executives with:

I’ve helped individuals who have found that standard outplacement coaching, whilst often supportive, hasn’t been challenging enough for them.  Individuals who’ve needed much more than help determining their ideal location and minimum salary, basic cv writing, and interview tips.

I have supplemented Outplacement Support through helping individuals clarify their values and strengths, and think carefully about what they’ve enjoyed, and what they want to do next.  I give honest feedback.  I might challenge assumptions about what people think they should do, and I help them think creatively about potential roles, sectors, work cultures, and employers, and how to target them.  Clients have particularly appreciated being prompted to think more creatively about their options, and being encouraged to do what they’ve committed to do.

I bring 20 years commercial experience helping people work out how to develop their careers and achieve their potential.  I’ve worked closely with colleagues in Sales, Global Licensing, International Distribution, Retail Operations, Multi-Site Management, Property, Marketing, PR, Editorial, Production, Legal & Business, IT, HR, and Finance. I have enjoyed interviewing and assessing senior individuals in different organisations, across a number of business sectors, including: Haagen-Dazs, Prêt a Manger, FremantleMedia, and the Financial Times.  I’ve trained managers to interview and recruit, and I’ve worked closely with Executive Search consultants, as a client, a candidate, and a coach.

I set up my own business 7 years ago, and have learnt a great deal about marketing myself, negotiating, pitching for business, networking, and the resilience required when constantly seeking work.  This experience coupled with my earlier career as an HR professional recruiting senior talent, and backed up by an honours degree in Social Psychology; graduating from the Institute of Personnel & Development; accreditation in a variety of personality profiling tools, and having been trained to coach at Ashridge Business School, enables me to challenge and support individuals through their redundancy and back to work.

The benefits of supporting employees through a redundancy programme include protecting a company’s reputation as an employer, and securing positive relationships with talented ex-employees who may well be able to support the business in the future.

Leaders and managers who are responsible for orchestrating change often appreciate coaching in communicating with employees whose jobs are at risk of redundancy, and in conducting assertive redundancy conversations with individuals whose jobs have been made redundant.  Managers also often need help equipping employees who have been retained, to deliver results with fewer colleagues.

I’m committed to helping people find their ideal jobs, and I feel elated when they succeed.  If you’re considering redundancy coaching for yourself or any of your senior managers, please do get in touch.  I would value the opportunity to meet with you, to share how I’ve helped people achieve their goals, and give you the chance to evaluate how well we’d work together.

Amanda has an intuitive and intrinsically effective approach to coaching which is backed-up with expertise and a high level of commitment to her own personal development. I have found her to be an empathic and inspirational coach; she uses classic, and also more creative, coaching techniques without the client being aware of the ‘seams’ or of the sheer effort of mind that she is putting in to pursue the client’s goals. Excellent and entirely recommendable.
